It’s finally starting to feel like spring and quickly turning into summer!! Congratulations to all of the Class of 2019 seniors that we just finished up shooting, you were an amazing class to get to know and I am so happy to see such great young adults entering the scary world ahead of you. Keep me updated, I like watching what my DRP seniors are up to!

With the end of a school year means it’s time to start thinking about the next crew of seniors. To me, that’s the most exciting part! Getting inquiries asking about pricing and info on senior sessions as well as meeting and getting to know the teens that are part of Class of 2020! Everyone knows I love my seniors, but what I love the most is the connections and friendships I make with not only them but their parents and families. It’s always a joy meeting newbies and learning their stories. Those stories have been kicked off by launching our new Senior Rep Program and my girls are the best. Ever. I can’t wait to meet more high school seniors from all over Nebraska!

We hosted our spring senior rep sesh night this past weekend and the girls and me froze our booties off but I’m thinking the girls could all agree it was totally worth it judging by these beautiful pictures! They look totally warm and happy, but in reality, the wind was blowing about 20 mph and the temps were about 50ish. Nebraska weather can be fun like that, it was in the 90’s a few days earlier and we had our heaters on the following week. Spring truly is a magical time of blooming flowers, allergies and tornadoes, but Nebraska always has it’s way of working magic into the mess. We choose a location around Wilber and Swanton, Nebraska area because I had the perfect spot filled with everything spring including flowers, barns, tall grass, a cute little pond (with my ducks I’ve named Bert and Ernie!) as well as the perfect sunset. The girls of course talked to the cows and goats while out on the farm that evening so I guess you could say it was perfect for everyone!

Our first location was a tiny hike but once we got down there, the girls loved the soft subtle look of the purple wildflowers that were growing near the pond. We zipped down there and each girl had the opportunity to pose and have fun while being photographed. What I love is that I literally sent off a short message and gave the girls full style options. I offered a direction and said bring what you want and it always works out the girls match so well without even planning on it. I like to make sure they can feel comfortable and expressive in their own outfits but as a whole, they all look great together.

What I love the most about my rep team is that the girls, while not getting their picture taken and are waiting, have small talk but make sure to include each other. While shooting I could hear them saying words of encouragement to the person getting theirs taken and it warms my heart. It’s tough being a teen, there’s so much judgement and to take the time to find women who lift each other up is extremely important to me. These girls will eventually be our community leaders! But, I think my favorite part of the day was watching them laugh and get to know each other! My whole intention of having a rep team is to find ways to bridge schools and bring girls together to empower and encourage each other.

Our next location was up on the yard. We choose an open area with these cute little white wildflowers growing and the perfect faded white painted barn. My favorite was the light leaking into the images but of course, no one besides a photographer truly notices those details. A couple of the girls did a quick wardrobe change and there was a sneak attack scare shenanigan going on behind the scenes then we were ready for more laughter, jokes and of course, pictures! Those Nebraska sunsets and my senior teens I just can’t brag about enough. I love the midwest!

And our final stop for the senior rep team girls was at the pond. We hiked around the back side and froze as the sun was almost down but the girls toughed it out and smiled like it was the best day ever! Between the crisp spring sunset and the beautiful fresh grass growing, the girls looked stunning. I swear i have the best of the best from local high schools and I am forever grateful for these girls who are willing to laugh at my bad dad jokes.

A few weeks ago in between the breaks of snow we kicked off the Class of 2020 Senior Rep Team party at Brew House in Crete, Nebraska. I met some pretty amazing girls from several local high schools in the southeast Nebraska area and invited them to join our rep team. We enjoyed some coffee, chit chatted about what perks are all included in the model program and then ended with a short and sweet photo shoot for the girls. We missed a few faces at the initial meeting but that’s ok, because the girls all got to meet later when we did a Snow Session for them.

At the meeting the girls talked about what activities they’re all involved in and we chatted about what they wanted to do through out this next year while repping the DRP team. From girls nights with pizza and popcorn to themed photoshoots with water or glitter, I have no doubt this next year will be filled with beautiful photos as well as inspiring girls that will be fantastic leaders in their local communities.

Our reps are from several schools located around the southeast Nebraska area. Janae is representing Milford High School, Cassidy represents Tri-County High School, Morgan represents Norris High School, for our Wilber-Clatonia High School reps we have Shelby, Lily, and Jackie (we love WCHS!) and rounding us out is Caitlin who goes to Friend High School.

I love that each girl took the time to style themselves based on a few simple insights that I suggested. I basically told them, jeans and pick a cream/white top. Dress it up or down however you’d like. Style yourself and make your personality shine. They literally did just that! From cute little brown booties to tennis shoes and converse, I loved see them all show up repping themselves.

I think my favorite part of this meet and greet was introducing the new girls to each other. Ironically, most of the girls knew of each other or found they all had a similar connection. Some knew each other from Trap Shooting while others competed in One Act Play or other sports activities. It’s my goal, to really bridge the gap and bring girls together to empower and encourage each other.

Keep an eye out for these girls through this next year, they’re going to move mountains! Check out how amazing they look in the photos!

These girls are amazing and I cannot explain how excited I am so watch their senior year unfold this next school year. My goal is to get into at least ONE picture with my girls every time we meet up. I want to build these friendships up and truly enjoy their company! XOXO

I absolutely LOVE getting to see babies and toddlers once in awhile during the cold months when we’re all cooped up inside impatiently awaiting the spring weather. Every January I host milestone mini sessions that are simplistic and focused on babies. The set-up is super basic and we invite clients to “shop” our wardrobe or baby outfits or bring their own. We even wrote up a post about The Best Of Amazon for Milestone Outfits to give clients inspiration!

One of my favorite little nuggets that stopped in was Mister Colt. I personally couldn’t wait to see him because my cousin’s (hey there Dustin & Amelia!) couldn’t make it to Christmas because Colt wasn’t feeling the best so it had been quite awhile since I’d seen him. Oh. My. Goodness. He has gotten so big and his laid back personality truly shined through! He was just all smiles and ready to talk to us from the minute he walked in the door.

At milestone sessions I try to go as simple as possible. The less time we spend setting up and taking down backdrops, the more time we get to spend playing with babies!! With these mini’s it was a basic, cream backdrop of seamless paper and we tossed in a few tiny props like the fur rug and box to help him sit up.

Colt did great and although he wasn’t quite sitting unassisted I’m willing to bet now he is! that’s why we’ve got plenty of buckets and basket’s to sit babies in. They always love getting to sit up and look around at us while we’re shooting.

Thank you Colt (and mommy and daddy) for visiting me. I cannot wait to watch you grow and see your personality change. You are such a handsome little dude and I have no doubt you’ll grow into loving the outdoors just like your daddy!!

Wilber-Clatonia High School - Friend High School - Tri-County High School

We did our first official shoot with our Senior Rep Team of 2019 and I can say it was hands down something that inspired me to kick off the Class of 2020 already! These girls brought laughter and spunk to their session and it reminded me why I truly love what I do. Seniors have been, and always will be my favorite type of sessions. And, kicking off the rep team with this amazing group of girls I know will only get me more excited to meet high school seniors from all over Nebraska!

This crew is so excited for their senior year and after our meeting at Brew House in Crete, Nebraska (my fav coffee place of all time!) we stepped out to go shoot a quick mini session in the snow. The girls all wore the cutest outfits that coordinated perfectly and I loved watching each of their personalities shine through their clothing choices. From worn denim jeans to black denim with distressed holes, we had some cute outfits paired with warm fuzzy boots and then Miss Shelby and Lily lived on the edge in tennis shoes although I swear they were going to get frost bite. I love that the girls almost all showed up in vests (myself included) because it clearly means we all love a puffy vest!! And of course, we almost all had matching CC beanies which cracked us up because we loved the thought of thinking alike!

While out in the snow shooting pictures of the girls, we learned so much about each other and laughed at some pretty wonky things. From Cassidy’s hilarious “laugh” to me almost falling before we even left the road, I’d say the girls had fun. The snow photos look amazing and the girls rocked their photo shoot! Here in Nebraska we received about seven inches of snow over the past few days so this was the perfect opportunity to take these pictures. We met in Crete, Nebraska for the session and then had snowball fights and tried not to slide down any slippery hills. The girls toughed it out and were troopers when I asked them to dip their fingers into the snow and some even offered to toss snow into each others faces “just for the perfect pictures.” But, I think my favorite part of the day was watching them laugh and get to know each other! My whole intention of having a rep team is to find ways to bridge schools and bring girls together to empower and encourage each other.

My heart exploded when they asked if we could get together more often than just for shoots. Yes girls, absolutely we can do girls days and go get pedis or nails done then go grab pizza and gab and catch up. Yes, absolutely my house is a safe place for pizza and movie nights! Honestly, this is what I dreamed of when I said I wanted to start a rep program and I am still on cloud nine thinking that something like a photo session could bring together such a diverse group of girls and teach them to love each other and laugh. This is totally what I imagined my business doing, and I’m grateful I can be the bridge to connect these girls! XOXO
