Elizabeth Kubicek of Wilber, Nebraska

Lizzie Kubicek is a high school senior at Wilber-Clatonia High School here in Wilber, Nebraska who is the sweetest most kind girl I’ve gotten to know through the years. She is such a determined and hard worker and I am so proud of her for overcoming everything that is thrown her way. She is always smiling, for sure is the type of person that walks into a room and can brighten everyone’s day and the one thing I love the most about Lizzie, is that she’s always willing to volunteer and lend a hand if someone needs something.

Lizzie is active in FBLA, is in National Honor Society, Student Council, Legion Auxiliary, VFW Auxiliary, is an elementary teacher’s aide, and is active in volleyball as well as so many other things.

Lizzie was one of my Class of 2019 senior reps and did an awesome job helping me out when I needed something. She for sure brought laughter to our sessions and I absolutely adore her sense of style. She planned out all her own outfits and clearly I wish I could keep her around just to help style myself and my future seniors!

At Lizzie’s session we choose one of our farms located near Dorchester, Nebraska and went with a super earthy vibe. Not over the top “farm” feel but more nature and just boho vibes. She wore some amazing outfits like the jean skirt with the perfect yellow floral shirt that coordinated perfectly with the wild flowers we found in late summer. The sun was setting so perfectly that evening and I swear it’s what us photographers dream of! ;)

She also wore a beautiful white flowy long sleeved shirt that had dainty lace details in it. Paired it up with some cute Steve Madden wedge sandals and distressed denim jeans it was amazing for the white flowers we found and ideal with tall grass. I’m totally serious when I say she did amazing with the outfits.

I always suggest to my seniors to grab a few tops to swap out during your session for a quick change and that’s exactly what Lizzie did. She also brought the most pretty soft green tank again, with great lace details, that flowed and looked gorgeous when we put her with that rustic car.

For senior sessions I love clothes that all flow together and give off the same vibes. I like that Lizzie went with flowing and neutrals. When we mix all the final images together in an album, they look stunning together! If you have too many different styles mixed in, sometimes it can get overwhelming and the overall feel of the session doesn’t flow as nicely. Lizzie did perfect combining all the outfits to function together.

I asked Lizzie what she thought of her experience and here are her words:

“Working with Kelsey was absolutely amazing!! She had so many great ideas and gorgeous locations! I was very comfortable and always laughing and LOVED how the pictures turned out! There was never a dull moment and Kelsey is such a genuine and hilarious person. :)”

So there you have it, even Lizzie LOVED spending time with me, almost as much fun as I had with her ;)

Thank you Lizzie for trusting me with your precious senior memories. You session for sure went down as a favorite and I am so proud of who you’ve became. I’ve known you forever, and watching you come to events with your mom as a pre-teen to seeing you bloom into a beautiful young lady, I have no doubt you’ll go on to become successful in any career path you choose. Lizzie is going to the University of Nebraska in Lincoln and will be studying elementary education. I know she’ll be fantastic being a future teacher! ;) Keep doing you girlfriend, you’re a true leader!

A few weeks ago in between the breaks of snow we kicked off the Class of 2020 Senior Rep Team party at Brew House in Crete, Nebraska. I met some pretty amazing girls from several local high schools in the southeast Nebraska area and invited them to join our rep team. We enjoyed some coffee, chit chatted about what perks are all included in the model program and then ended with a short and sweet photo shoot for the girls. We missed a few faces at the initial meeting but that’s ok, because the girls all got to meet later when we did a Snow Session for them.

At the meeting the girls talked about what activities they’re all involved in and we chatted about what they wanted to do through out this next year while repping the DRP team. From girls nights with pizza and popcorn to themed photoshoots with water or glitter, I have no doubt this next year will be filled with beautiful photos as well as inspiring girls that will be fantastic leaders in their local communities.

Our reps are from several schools located around the southeast Nebraska area. Janae is representing Milford High School, Cassidy represents Tri-County High School, Morgan represents Norris High School, for our Wilber-Clatonia High School reps we have Shelby, Lily, and Jackie (we love WCHS!) and rounding us out is Caitlin who goes to Friend High School.

I love that each girl took the time to style themselves based on a few simple insights that I suggested. I basically told them, jeans and pick a cream/white top. Dress it up or down however you’d like. Style yourself and make your personality shine. They literally did just that! From cute little brown booties to tennis shoes and converse, I loved see them all show up repping themselves.

I think my favorite part of this meet and greet was introducing the new girls to each other. Ironically, most of the girls knew of each other or found they all had a similar connection. Some knew each other from Trap Shooting while others competed in One Act Play or other sports activities. It’s my goal, to really bridge the gap and bring girls together to empower and encourage each other.

Keep an eye out for these girls through this next year, they’re going to move mountains! Check out how amazing they look in the photos!

These girls are amazing and I cannot explain how excited I am so watch their senior year unfold this next school year. My goal is to get into at least ONE picture with my girls every time we meet up. I want to build these friendships up and truly enjoy their company! XOXO

Colt Lee

Western, Nebraska

I absolutely LOVE getting to see babies and toddlers once in awhile during the cold months when we’re all cooped up inside impatiently awaiting the spring weather. Every January I host milestone mini sessions that are simplistic and focused on babies. The set-up is super basic and we invite clients to “shop” our wardrobe or baby outfits or bring their own. We even wrote up a post about The Best Of Amazon for Milestone Outfits to give clients inspiration!

One of my favorite little nuggets that stopped in was Mister Colt. I personally couldn’t wait to see him because my cousin’s (hey there Dustin & Amelia!) couldn’t make it to Christmas because Colt wasn’t feeling the best so it had been quite awhile since I’d seen him. Oh. My. Goodness. He has gotten so big and his laid back personality truly shined through! He was just all smiles and ready to talk to us from the minute he walked in the door.

At milestone sessions I try to go as simple as possible. The less time we spend setting up and taking down backdrops, the more time we get to spend playing with babies!! With these mini’s it was a basic, cream backdrop of seamless paper and we tossed in a few tiny props like the fur rug and box to help him sit up.

Colt did great and although he wasn’t quite sitting unassisted I’m willing to bet now he is! that’s why we’ve got plenty of buckets and basket’s to sit babies in. They always love getting to sit up and look around at us while we’re shooting.

Thank you Colt (and mommy and daddy) for visiting me. I cannot wait to watch you grow and see your personality change. You are such a handsome little dude and I have no doubt you’ll grow into loving the outdoors just like your daddy!!

Shelby, Caitlin, Cassidy, Lily & Jackie

Wilber-Clatonia High School - Friend High School - Tri-County High School

We did our first official shoot with our Senior Rep Team of 2019 and I can say it was hands down something that inspired me to kick off the Class of 2020 already! These girls brought laughter and spunk to their session and it reminded me why I truly love what I do. Seniors have been, and always will be my favorite type of sessions. And, kicking off the rep team with this amazing group of girls I know will only get me more excited to meet high school seniors from all over Nebraska!

This crew is so excited for their senior year and after our meeting at Brew House in Crete, Nebraska (my fav coffee place of all time!) we stepped out to go shoot a quick mini session in the snow. The girls all wore the cutest outfits that coordinated perfectly and I loved watching each of their personalities shine through their clothing choices. From worn denim jeans to black denim with distressed holes, we had some cute outfits paired with warm fuzzy boots and then Miss Shelby and Lily lived on the edge in tennis shoes although I swear they were going to get frost bite. I love that the girls almost all showed up in vests (myself included) because it clearly means we all love a puffy vest!! And of course, we almost all had matching CC beanies which cracked us up because we loved the thought of thinking alike!

While out in the snow shooting pictures of the girls, we learned so much about each other and laughed at some pretty wonky things. From Cassidy’s hilarious “laugh” to me almost falling before we even left the road, I’d say the girls had fun. The snow photos look amazing and the girls rocked their photo shoot! Here in Nebraska we received about seven inches of snow over the past few days so this was the perfect opportunity to take these pictures. We met in Crete, Nebraska for the session and then had snowball fights and tried not to slide down any slippery hills. The girls toughed it out and were troopers when I asked them to dip their fingers into the snow and some even offered to toss snow into each others faces “just for the perfect pictures.” But, I think my favorite part of the day was watching them laugh and get to know each other! My whole intention of having a rep team is to find ways to bridge schools and bring girls together to empower and encourage each other.

My heart exploded when they asked if we could get together more often than just for shoots. Yes girls, absolutely we can do girls days and go get pedis or nails done then go grab pizza and gab and catch up. Yes, absolutely my house is a safe place for pizza and movie nights! Honestly, this is what I dreamed of when I said I wanted to start a rep program and I am still on cloud nine thinking that something like a photo session could bring together such a diverse group of girls and teach them to love each other and laugh. This is totally what I imagined my business doing, and I’m grateful I can be the bridge to connect these girls! XOXO

Ok, we had to do ONE picture with me in it for fun. I mean, I absolutely LOVE these girls already and just want to hug them all! XOXO

What a fun night of a quick mini session with some pretty amazing girls from the Crete High School Cheerleading Squad!!

Madison + Barrett did a collaboration with DRP and we spent a night with some pretty fun cheerleaders. First we took them over to Kelsey's to get styled with the perfectly matching and styled M+B pieces then we zipped out to the farm near Wilber to snap some fun shots of the girls. One of my favorite stacks that Kelsey has created in the Rose Gold Summer Sunset because it's so perfect for any outfit but I also love and wear Chloe's Camo set quite often for daily wear since it's so neutral colored! Basically, you can't go wrong with any set you choose from M+B!!

RISE UP

This year the cheer squad is really focusing on the team motto of "Rise Up" so I asked Kara to help fill us in on it. Here's what she had to say!

Rise up means different things to different people. Rise up meant that we're going to strive to do better for the school or the student body. It can mean we're going to do better with financial situations, or even take our competition to another level. Meaning we'll add more tumbling skills for state, or different things we've never done before.

Basically, their entire team is focusing on rising higher and doing the best they can do. And I totally agree that it can be applied in so many ways to everyone, no matter your situation. Choose to rise up and be above what others are doing. Do the right thing. Be the good in someones life!!

Senior Photo Session // Maddie Schnase // Pius X High School // Southeast Nebraska High School Senior Photographer

Farm. Horses. Sunsets. Trucks. And American Flags.

These are the things that all were included during Maddie's senior session. These are also some of my top fav things about getting to meet and style a senior session specifically tailored to each and every senior I get to meet.

Maddie came down from Lincoln Nebraska to visit me and brought lots of ideas and props as well. Her hobbies include anything country, and outdoors along with her favorite thing, everything equine. What I loved learning the most about her, she barrel races! I find it so neat when I learn what unique hobbies my seniors have, and I love keeping track of them after they graduate. I like seeing them succeed in college and check in often to see what they're up to. To me, it's not just about capturing your senior pictures, it's about making a connection and friendship that I get to continuously check in on and cheer my seniors (and their families) on from the sidelines for years to come!

Maddie brought her horse out to the farm where we had so much fun playing in the tall grass, avoiding bugs and just talking about all things high school. She told me how she loves to go to Plamor (something I once used to do over ten years ago back when I was in high school) and explained how she loves driving her truck up and down O Street with her American Flags on the back of it.

Thank you Maddie and Jenny for coming down to visit, I truly enjoyed getting to know you both and wish you all the best luck after high school!

Senior Session // Madison Gregory // Fairbury High School // Southeast Nebraska Photographer

Meeting Maddy was so fun. She's been working so hard that she's graduating early from Fairbury High School. What a determined person, that's just so cool to see teens work so hard towards those types of things.

Madison is also a cheerleader and loves dancing, cheer and fitness. Finding a girl that is so like me was so great, but unlike her, I don't have that beautiful hair color that I've always secretly wished for! I love asking my seniors some questions and one that I asked her was what is one thing people wouldn't know about you and her response is that she's extremely motivated. I too, love staying motivated and once I put my mind to it, can accomplish anything. I have no doubt that Maddy will accomplish so many things in her future, she's an awesome person!
