A few weeks ago in between the breaks of snow we kicked off the Class of 2020 Senior Rep Team party at Brew House in Crete, Nebraska. I met some pretty amazing girls from several local high schools in the southeast Nebraska area and invited them to join our rep team. We enjoyed some coffee, chit chatted about what perks are all included in the model program and then ended with a short and sweet photo shoot for the girls. We missed a few faces at the initial meeting but that’s ok, because the girls all got to meet later when we did a Snow Session for them.

At the meeting the girls talked about what activities they’re all involved in and we chatted about what they wanted to do through out this next year while repping the DRP team. From girls nights with pizza and popcorn to themed photoshoots with water or glitter, I have no doubt this next year will be filled with beautiful photos as well as inspiring girls that will be fantastic leaders in their local communities.

Our reps are from several schools located around the southeast Nebraska area. Janae is representing Milford High School, Cassidy represents Tri-County High School, Morgan represents Norris High School, for our Wilber-Clatonia High School reps we have Shelby, Lily, and Jackie (we love WCHS!) and rounding us out is Caitlin who goes to Friend High School.

I love that each girl took the time to style themselves based on a few simple insights that I suggested. I basically told them, jeans and pick a cream/white top. Dress it up or down however you’d like. Style yourself and make your personality shine. They literally did just that! From cute little brown booties to tennis shoes and converse, I loved see them all show up repping themselves.

I think my favorite part of this meet and greet was introducing the new girls to each other. Ironically, most of the girls knew of each other or found they all had a similar connection. Some knew each other from Trap Shooting while others competed in One Act Play or other sports activities. It’s my goal, to really bridge the gap and bring girls together to empower and encourage each other.

Keep an eye out for these girls through this next year, they’re going to move mountains! Check out how amazing they look in the photos!

Get ready to see more of these girls throughout the year. If you’re interested in booking your own senior session contact one of them to get a referral of $100 off of your own senior session. Also, if you book before the end of May 2019, you can get an additional $50 off your session fee making for a super great deal on any senior session! ;)

These girls are amazing and I cannot explain how excited I am so watch their senior year unfold this next school year. My goal is to get into at least ONE picture with my girls every time we meet up. I want to build these friendships up and truly enjoy their company! XOXO

Colt Lee

Western, Nebraska

I absolutely LOVE getting to see babies and toddlers once in awhile during the cold months when we’re all cooped up inside impatiently awaiting the spring weather. Every January I host milestone mini sessions that are simplistic and focused on babies. The set-up is super basic and we invite clients to “shop” our wardrobe or baby outfits or bring their own. We even wrote up a post about The Best Of Amazon for Milestone Outfits to give clients inspiration!

One of my favorite little nuggets that stopped in was Mister Colt. I personally couldn’t wait to see him because my cousin’s (hey there Dustin & Amelia!) couldn’t make it to Christmas because Colt wasn’t feeling the best so it had been quite awhile since I’d seen him. Oh. My. Goodness. He has gotten so big and his laid back personality truly shined through! He was just all smiles and ready to talk to us from the minute he walked in the door.

At milestone sessions I try to go as simple as possible. The less time we spend setting up and taking down backdrops, the more time we get to spend playing with babies!! With these mini’s it was a basic, cream backdrop of seamless paper and we tossed in a few tiny props like the fur rug and box to help him sit up.

Colt did great and although he wasn’t quite sitting unassisted I’m willing to bet now he is! that’s why we’ve got plenty of buckets and basket’s to sit babies in. They always love getting to sit up and look around at us while we’re shooting.

Thank you Colt (and mommy and daddy) for visiting me. I cannot wait to watch you grow and see your personality change. You are such a handsome little dude and I have no doubt you’ll grow into loving the outdoors just like your daddy!!

Shelby, Caitlin, Cassidy, Lily & Jackie

Wilber-Clatonia High School - Friend High School - Tri-County High School

We did our first official shoot with our Senior Rep Team of 2019 and I can say it was hands down something that inspired me to kick off the Class of 2020 already! These girls brought laughter and spunk to their session and it reminded me why I truly love what I do. Seniors have been, and always will be my favorite type of sessions. And, kicking off the rep team with this amazing group of girls I know will only get me more excited to meet high school seniors from all over Nebraska!

This crew is so excited for their senior year and after our meeting at Brew House in Crete, Nebraska (my fav coffee place of all time!) we stepped out to go shoot a quick mini session in the snow. The girls all wore the cutest outfits that coordinated perfectly and I loved watching each of their personalities shine through their clothing choices. From worn denim jeans to black denim with distressed holes, we had some cute outfits paired with warm fuzzy boots and then Miss Shelby and Lily lived on the edge in tennis shoes although I swear they were going to get frost bite. I love that the girls almost all showed up in vests (myself included) because it clearly means we all love a puffy vest!! And of course, we almost all had matching CC beanies which cracked us up because we loved the thought of thinking alike!

While out in the snow shooting pictures of the girls, we learned so much about each other and laughed at some pretty wonky things. From Cassidy’s hilarious “laugh” to me almost falling before we even left the road, I’d say the girls had fun. The snow photos look amazing and the girls rocked their photo shoot! Here in Nebraska we received about seven inches of snow over the past few days so this was the perfect opportunity to take these pictures. We met in Crete, Nebraska for the session and then had snowball fights and tried not to slide down any slippery hills. The girls toughed it out and were troopers when I asked them to dip their fingers into the snow and some even offered to toss snow into each others faces “just for the perfect pictures.” But, I think my favorite part of the day was watching them laugh and get to know each other! My whole intention of having a rep team is to find ways to bridge schools and bring girls together to empower and encourage each other.

My heart exploded when they asked if we could get together more often than just for shoots. Yes girls, absolutely we can do girls days and go get pedis or nails done then go grab pizza and gab and catch up. Yes, absolutely my house is a safe place for pizza and movie nights! Honestly, this is what I dreamed of when I said I wanted to start a rep program and I am still on cloud nine thinking that something like a photo session could bring together such a diverse group of girls and teach them to love each other and laugh. This is totally what I imagined my business doing, and I’m grateful I can be the bridge to connect these girls! XOXO

Ok, we had to do ONE picture with me in it for fun. I mean, I absolutely LOVE these girls already and just want to hug them all! XOXO

Coltin Rezabek // Wilber-Clatonia High School

Coltin Rezabek is known all over the state of Nebraska for his fantastic high school football career and even owns a few titles for Player Of The Year so I cannot wait to brag about the senior pictures we took during his session this summer and fall!

Coltin goes to Wilber-Clatonia High School located in a small town located in Southeast Nebraska called Wilber. He’s active in FFA as well as involved in sports like baseball, football, basketball and track. I’ve watched him bring home a few championship titles with his Legion Baseball team and many other sports teams he’s been a part of. He truly is an amazing kid!!

What I like most about Coltin while getting to know him is that he mentioned he loves to hunt and fish and I know his family spends a lot of time together out on the lake fishing. It’s always my favorite to see families find a hobby or activity to do together and fishing is one that I can totally connect with as I did fishing often with my dad growing up!

I've shot a few families with sets of twins in photos. But I haven't shot a family with multiple sets of twins until I met the Wehner family! It's been a joy catching up with the Wehner family from Sprague, Nebraska area and seeing how quickly their kiddos have changed in the past two years. As much of a challenge as getting everyone looking is, I'm willing to bet we've got some great ones to pick from! Doing family photography with local clients to the Dorchester, Nebraska area is always such a joy to me. I love meeting new people in the surrounding communities is a fabulous way to get to know new neighbors and friends. Thanks for coming out to the farm Wehner family.

What a fun group of kiddos! And the best part, I loooooved their names! Check it out, I present, Kaeden, Kynnedy, Kensingtyn and Kendryk. I have never seen such unique names that flow together so well. And they were all so well behaved!

southeast-nebraska-photographer-fairmont-dorchester-wilber-family-child-portrait-pictures-candid-farm-grass-dresses-bows-boys-girls-siblings

I was so grateful that while we were styling the kiddos mom wanted to go with these beautiful neutral tones that were very light and fun to match the grass and farm scenery we decided to go with. The kids matched so well and it just fell together so fantastic. We played ring around the rosie, we played tag, we clapped and danced then as the sun was setting, we pulled out some "flowers" to blow into the wind. Honestly, the entire session was blissful and just reminded me to slow down and just let the kids play. Sometimes you get more out of a session by stepping back and letting the fun take over and setting the camera down for a little bit to join in the fun. I've been trying to focus more on the connections and less on the technical side of sessions, and honestly, it's totally paying off! ;)

Senior Session // Madison Gregory // Fairbury High School // Southeast Nebraska Photographer

Meeting Maddy was so fun. She's been working so hard that she's graduating early from Fairbury High School. What a determined person, that's just so cool to see teens work so hard towards those types of things.

Madison is also a cheerleader and loves dancing, cheer and fitness. Finding a girl that is so like me was so great, but unlike her, I don't have that beautiful hair color that I've always secretly wished for! I love asking my seniors some questions and one that I asked her was what is one thing people wouldn't know about you and her response is that she's extremely motivated. I too, love staying motivated and once I put my mind to it, can accomplish anything. I have no doubt that Maddy will accomplish so many things in her future, she's an awesome person!

2016 DRP Yearly Review

Photographer Yearly Session Review - Dorchester, Nebraska Photography

It’s so hard to believe that 2016 is coming to a close and that it’s time to start thinking about 2017! I hope this past year has brought you joy and happiness as well as many new stories to look back on and reminisce over the good times you’ve had. I know so many things have changed in our family. We got married in August and had a bountiful harvest this past fall. I have no doubt that 2017 will be an exciting chapter to write and bring you many new fun things to look forward to.

Here at Dirt Road Photography we’re working on adding more products as well as new services to the business lineup. With the new implements of the minimum print orders this year I’ve gotten so many rave reviews with clients who loved ordering products that they never were printing before. They love that they now have lasting memories they can pass down through future generations and flip through on a daily basis. Future generations won’t have any tangible prints to hold and enjoy unless we become proactive and print what we’ve taken pictures of. Let’s not be the generation without photos!!

This last year has had so many changes so I wanted to take the time to reach out and let each and every 2016 client and supporter of DRP to know that I am grateful for your business and encouragement. You’re not supporting a big company but you’re helping to support a local small business owner. Without you, owning a business would be impossible!

I hope to see many of you again in 2017 and I love watching you and your family continue to grow. Thank you, from the bottom of my heart, for inviting me into your family’s lives. You’re all such a blessing and I love knowing each and every one of you. I truly do value each friendship I’ve made! I wish you a great new year and cannot wait to see what successful things you accomplish in 2017.

-Kelsey Nerud with Dirt Road Photography

And check out the change through the years! It's incredible to watch progress and see how things change so much each year. I love watching my growth and seeing all these beautiful new clients!!

They'll Last A Lifetime!

10 x 10 Photo Album Review - BayPhoto - Nebraska Photographer

All of my clients know how much I advocate printing products to ensure future generations have tangible goodies to look at when we're gone and this beautiful album seriously shows exactly why they're worth it!

This is a 10" x 10" Pacific Album that is offered with the thick seamless pages so they carry over from page to page without a seam in the binding area. This one is the 0.05" thick pages with a black core but can also have a white core if preferred. It is shown with the Baby Blue Linen cover in a ten page spread.

I love albums, I love them even more when my clients order the super thick pages that ensure little hands can't tear them and the quality that lasts forever. They are so worth their weight in gold (and these babies are heavy!) and the fact that you have something to display and pick up to look at is awesome. Just think, when we're all gone and Facebook no longer exhist, our great-great-grandkids will still have these albums to look back on and make fun of our hairstyles and clothing choices ;)

Don't believe me that clients love their albums? Check out this clients exact words: "This family photo book is breathtaking, and not just because it is my family 😉 The quality of this photo book is superb. I am not worried at all about my 4 year boy handling it. It is a truly a family treasure. Adding it to my list to get every year/family session along with my favorite spiral proof book 😊 Thanks Kelsey!"

I always recommend if you can only purchase one thing that these albums are the thing to get. Timeless. Classic. Stylish. Perfection.

I adore squishy babies soooo much! This little girl was so fantastic and did great for her session! Little Devanie visited our studio located near Dorchester, Nebraska to do her newborn photo session and take some precious baby pictures for her mommy and daddy to love and keep as memories of how tiny she once was.

I love when parents show up with ideas and gifts from others to include in their sessions. Little Devanie is definitely loved and cared about and I can tell that mommy and daddy are so in love with her. I cannot wait to share this first year with them and I am beyond excited to watch her grow and change. I have a hunch her hair will grow quickly too ;)
